Code of conduct

Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone

Rules What to expect Consent

Scope

This code of conduct applies to Hackfest Communication events (Hackfest, iHack, QuebecSec, etc.), its online community (Discord and social networks), and other initiatives (podcast and collaborators, InfosecJobs, etc.). Our goal is to provide welcoming, safe spaces where people can learn, share, and interact.

Rules

Any action or behaviour that:

  • Disrupts the normal operation of the event
  • Causes excessive discomfort to other participants
  • Negatively affects guests, staff, or venues of the event (Hackfest, iHack, QuebecSec, etc.)

...is prohibited and may result in expulsion from the event and a ban from future Hackfest Communication events.

What to expect

Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated at our events. This includes, but is not limited to, physical assault, battery, deliberate intimidation, harassment, or unwanted physical contact.

If someone tells you “no” or asks you to leave them alone, your interaction with that person is over. Continuing to attempt to interact with them may lead to your expulsion from the event.

If you are the target or a witness of harassment, we encourage you to report the incident as soon as possible to a member of the Hackfest team (look for a red Hackfest T-shirt). The sooner we are informed, the better we can respond.

Consent

Remember: “Presence does not imply consent.” Respecting the personal boundaries of other participants is essential to everyone’s safety and well-being.
